Matthew is a veteran tutor with over a decade of experience helping students excel on standardized tests including the SAT, ACT, and GRE. He scored in the 99th percentile on all three exams, and brings that firsthand expertise to his instruction. Matthew helps students master key content while also developing test-taking strategies that build confidence and reduce stress. By tailoring lessons to each student’s goals, strengths, and learning styles, he ensures that preparation is efficient, focused, and effective.
His own academic journey underscores his expertise in high-stakes testing. As a student, Matthew earned multiple full scholarships before choosing to study Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University as part of the National Scholars Program. He later earned his M.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia, experiences that required both strong technical skills and academic resilience—qualities he now fosters in his tutoring students.
Students consistently describe Matthew as approachable, patient, and motivating. One noted that he “forms real connections with students that allow them to feel comfortable asking questions, getting advice, and making mistakes.” Whether helping a student push into a higher score range for competitive admissions or guiding an adult learner preparing for graduate school, Matthew brings the same balance of rigor and encouragement. His ultimate goal is not only to raise test scores, but to help students develop the skills and confidence they can carry forward into their future pursuits.
