Rylee has worked as a tutor since 2014 and is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of California, Davis, where they study U.S. history, focusing on the impacts of infrastructure on Mexican American and Native American communities in the Southwest. Previously, Rylee obtained an M.A. in Historical Studies from the New School for Social Research and a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
Teaching is Rylee’s passion. Working as a one-on-one tutor is particularly rewarding because it allows them to customize their approach to a particular student’s learning style and fully invest in that student’s success. One of Rylee’s biggest strengths as a tutor is their ability to quickly identify a student’s learning style and adapt to it. They have aided those students both in reaching their goals on standardized tests, in particular classes, and also in developing a toolkit of skills and strategies to use in their broader academic journey. As one who was often frustrated by the slow pace of certain classes, Rylee also enjoys working with students who think at a fast pace and are hungry to learn and become top students.
